Tsunami Watch 2010!

A couple notes about this comic:

I was amazed with how quick the media shifted from the actual disaster in Chile to the "potential spectacle" in Hawaii.

I didn't realize until I finished this that the reporter kinda looks like Tom Selleck from his Magnum P.I. days.

And yes, its a Point Break reference.

Shay's MRI.

Shay had an MRI the other day. (She's fine, don't worry. She has a work-related shoulder injury, and the University is trying to figure out what to do with her.) She was alright with being jammed into a tube until she was told she couldn't move. And to add insult to injury, they gave her some headphones that were pumpin' out the jams.

This strip just proves that Shay is the hardest person for me to draw. I'm going to get the hang of it someday.

New Art.

For my portfolio class.
The prompt was "communication breakdown".

For Children's Book Illustration.
A reinterpretation of The Woodburner's Son.
Don't worry, I'd never heard of it either.

Both are done with ink and watercolor.
And both look way better in person.

The Critique.

Anyone who's ever had any kind of public critique knows what it feels like to have your work analyzed and torn apart. Its not a great feeling, but I appreciate the critiques that hurt, more than the ones that leave me all fuzzy inside. Anyone can tell you that your work is great, but you'll learn more from the person that tells you it stinks. And you'll learn even more from the person who tells you why.

I had a pretty solid critique this morning. And a rough one on Monday, too.

Without even thinking about it, I've drawn my high school art teacher, Mr. Warner.

Based on Actual Events.

Yesterday's headache was awful.
